If You Have Mild to Moderate Sleep Apnea, We Offer an Oral Appliance to Help You Breathe Easy

Posted .

If you are unfamiliar with sleep apnea, it is a sleep disorder which is often caused by the obstruction or interruption of airflow while you sleep. If you suffer from this sleep disorder, you are not alone. Many people struggle to get the sleep they need because of this interrupted breathing pattern.

Not only is sleep apnea common, but it is dangerous as well. With central sleep apnea, your brain isn’t sending the proper signals to the chest muscles which tell you to breathe. Obstructed sleep apnea is the obstruction of air flow in the airway.

Some people with sleep apnea don’t even know they have it. They sleep alone, so no one is telling them they are snoring all night long. But there are some things to watch out for that might give you a sign that you have this condition:

— Age is a factor, as you get older you become more prone to this disorder, especially if you are overweight.

— If you already have sinus or allergies, you may be at higher risk.

— If you have enlarged tonsils or a large tongue, or even a small jaw, you may be susceptible to sleep apnea.

— While both sexes experience sleep apnea, men are more prone to have it.

— If you have a family history of sleep apnea, you are at higher risk for this condition.

— If you have health issues such as a deviated septum, or blockages in the nasal passageways, you are at higher risk.
